From The Vault: Ready to work? A day in the life of an AFL player

A flashback to Dr Alice Sweeting’s presentation at the ignite+VU event in 2018

In this presentation, we hear Dr Alice Sweeting discuss how questionnaires, accelerometers and global positioning systems are being used to monitor players and create individualised training programs.

At the time, Alice worked at the Western Bulldogs Football Club where she was embedded as a research fellow for Victoria University. Throughout the talk Alice draws upon her day-to-day experiences of how she along with Victoria University PhD, honours and undergraduates students utilise the data generated to answer the question of whether athletes are ready to train, in order to enhance athlete performance.
