From The Vault: Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
In this presentation, we hear Professor Rob Aughey discuss the big business of tracking technologies, and how the team at TRACK has had the opportunity to work with world leaders FIFA and the Barcelona Innovation Hub in the first ever attempt to quantify the accuracy of Electronic Performance Tracking Systems in a stadium environment, during actual matches.
Throughout the talk Rob discusses the history of tracking technologies, the various different types of tracking technologies, and the current use of tracking technologies in both sport and our everyday lives. He also goes into detail about how the TRACK team has been able to work with FIFA and the Barcelona Innovation Hub to establish a global standard for athlete tracking system accuracy, as well as projects such using athlete tracking information to detect the performance of athletes who’re deliberately looking to fix the outcome of a match.
